ChlamHealth at the German Chlamydia Workshop 2026
The ChlamHealth Group participated in the German Chlamydia Workshop (DCW) 2026 in Vienna, contributing several talks and engaging in inspiring discussions with the international Chlamydia research community.
The workshop provided an excellent platform to share our latest findings and connect with colleagues working across molecular biology, microbiology, and One Health research.
Scientific Contributions
- Magdalena de Arriba presented her work on co-infection dynamics between tetracycline-susceptible and resistant Chlamydia suis strains, providing new insights into potential clade-specific differences in their developmental cycles.
- Hanna Marti introduced approaches for predicting the viability of human and veterinary chlamydiae, highlighting important implications for both diagnostic strategies and research applications.
- On the final day, Enrique Rayo presented new results on the effects of integrase inhibitor–based HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) on Chlamydia trachomatis activity in vitro. The findings suggest potential anti-chlamydial effects of PrEP, opening new perspectives for STI research.
Exchange and Collaboration
Beyond the scientific sessions, the workshop offered valuable opportunities for discussion, networking, and exchange with colleagues in the field.
We are grateful for the engaging conversations and the stimulating scientific environment created by the organizers.
A special highlight was the opportunity to continue discussions in a more informal setting during a traditional Austrian dinner — combining science, collaboration, and local culture.
We return from Vienna with new ideas, strengthened collaborations, and fresh motivation for our ongoing research.
