ChlamHealth Research Group

What is ChlamHealth?

Our research group is named after a unique bacterial phylum, the Chlamydiae. These bacteria exist all over the world and cause disease in humans but also in pets, livestock, and wildlife. The Chlamydiae Phylum further comprises several zoonotic pathogens, which makes it an excellent candidate to study under the One Health approach, a concept dedicated to improve the health of humans, animals and the environment (ChlamHealth).

Mission Statement

Our Mission Our Goals Our Vision
  • Investigating how microbial interaction and selective pressure shape sexually transmitted infections
  • How Gram-negative bacteria exchange and maintain virulence and resistance markers
  • How environmental factors influence microbial viability and host-pathogen interaction
  • Acquisition of mechanistic and ecological insights that inform strategies for disease prevention and control
  • Development of tools and strategies for rapid differentiation between live and dead bacteria
  • To guide infectious disease management with a focus on sexually transmitted infections and bacterial zoonoses
  • To strengthen antimicrobial stewardship through innovative tool development
